Neat Idea still in alpha, Hope all the bugs get fixed. Combat and gather should be 2 sep. buttons: when in battle you will get errors about the tree is not old like you are trying to gather. I can not recommend the game in its current state.. Game is still alpha and has some issues, but the developer is committed and very responsive. Haven't spend a lot of time in game yet, but from what I've played it seems fun.. This game has lot of potential and some really professional devs that are cranking out bug fixes and content improvements at an alarming rate. If they keep this up it won't be 'early access' for long. The game itself is an well done mash up of RPG, Strategy Survival, Crafting, and a City Builder games. It works together very well and once it is all smoothed out and the gaps filled in, it will be a great game in my opinion. Keep it up Devs. You have a real gem here!. In Development: Better Cave Decor: I'm working on adding more decor to caves based on the monsters that spawn there. So Mushroommen rooms will have mushrooms, Elementals would have rocks and stones, and Orcs and other monsters have supplies and camping equipment, straw bedding, etc. Makes the cave area feel more "lived in" by tying it to the monster more.I might do the same with dungeons as well.. In Progress - New Trees on Map: Some good news...all of the new trees and other flora are done and I've started the process of updating the map with the new stuff! These shots show the new cherry blossom trees at the ruins and the new weeping willows and Willow Grove. Like the other new trees, these also move about with the wind.I'm also updating how the trees are loaded into the game, so there can be settings to use the old trees (for those that prefer them) in addition to reduced tree variety for those with lower specs while still maintaining good visuals. The weeping willows branches moving in the wind makes Willow Grove look even more magical. When I get a chance I'll make an animated gif.I'm hoping to have everything changed out with settings support over the weekend. Changing out the trees and rocks is pretty straightforward, but adding the bushes, plants, and the new flowers will take the most time. There are also new pine trees. I'm probably going to section off an area of the map and make it a pine forest as a new POI and then scatter them just a bit around the rest of the map. I'll take a shot when that's all set up too.And Now I need to come up with a story quest that lets you place a cherry blossom in your town!. Behind the Scenes - Falling Leaves: I'm wrapping up the first phase of adding the new trees with the addition of the falling leaves. If you're interested in some behind the scenes stuff, I created a video showing how the leaves are created. The system is optimized to only use a few falling leaves generators, moving them around and coloring them to match the tree they are falling from as you move around in the game world.I think It's a neat little system so I figured I'd share. :)https://youtu.be/p-xNTR9NGMoThis will be in the next build. I'm still adjusting the leaf canopy colors and once that's done, the falling leaf colors will be updated to better match the trees.I have some more stuff I want to add with the trees but the basic implementation is done. Hoping to have the remaining trees (weeping willow, cherry blossom, and pine trees) in the game in a few days. Once that's done, I'll work on the better looking tree falling system. I also need to audit all of the trees on the map to make sure they aren't floating or too close to another tree. My plan is to do that last once I'm happy with the rest of the parts of the trees.. Alpha 12.4 - Bug Fixes and Improvements: Tonight's build includes a bunch of bug fixes and some improvements.Added the townsperson's current goal to the Townspeople pop-up in the Town Management UI.You can only place one Teleport Platform. The system doesn't check beyond the first one so I added the limit to avoid anyone crafting two since the second wouldn't be needed.Added controller support for the dungeon intro text and the enter mine choice UI.Fixed a bug with stamina potions that made newly crafted potions fail to stack with previously crafted stamina potions.Stamina potions now recover much more stamina.Metalworkers will no longer stay at their home and will always return to their shop.Fixed a bug that kept the Trainer's Respec button to fail. The town build mode instruction UI will no longer appear when crafting items. The mini-mushrooms in the Shroomin' quest will now correctly run around the town rather than staying in place.Fixed a part of the sewer that was missing a couple of columns.Fixed a bug that caused the mage teleporters to sometimes fail. The fitted armor quest will now correctly improve your armor and increase your stamina.Increased the stamina benefit from fitted armor.. Alpha 11.1 - Sewer Update and Quest: This is fine right? I think sewers are supposed to do that. I'm sure it's fine. :)Today's update includes a new quest using the Sewers and some quick updates to the sewer map.Added the Broken Sewer quest. The sewers are backed up and the townspeople are feeling the effects! Find out who is tampering with the sewers.Adjusted the textures on the sewer walls. They were kind of flat and just didn't look very good.Decreased the Gold and Stone cost of the Sewers.Increased the Stone cost for Stone Water Wells a bit.Reduced the frequency that the "Bed Rest" quest appears.Fixed a typo in the description of the Brewery. It said you could create "Bears" with Wheat. Everyone knows that Wheat Bears are WAY overpowered so I changed it back to "Beer".It's been a lot of fun adding some new quests to the game, especially the kind that affect the town. I'm going to spend some time now messing around with the new environment assets and I should have some shots of the new armor models for you to check out soon!. Roadmap to Full Release Progress Update: It's always nice to be able to mark something as done in the roadmap list, even better when it's three things! The Fast Travel system, additional uses for Alchemy Ingredients, and additional Steam Achievements are done!If you haven't read the original Roadmap announcement I recommend reading it at the link below. It provides a lot of context for the stuff on the list:https://steamcommunity.com/games/664000/announcements/detail/1710706508279875941I've also included some images and links to some of the more recent updates for those of you who are just finding HammerHelm so you can see the newly added and upcoming stuff that is listed in the In Progress Section!Below is a list of the goals and the progress that has been made on them so far.Note when something says "Done" that doesn't mean I'll never add more to it, it simply means I'm happy with where it is for now and moving on to other things. After leaving early access I will very likely come back to many of these to add more to them or make changes to improve them. IN PROGRESS. HammerHelm on Rock Paper Shotgun!: HammerHelm made Rock Paper Shotgun's most promising upcoming city-builders list so I had to share!https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2019/04/19/civic-beauties-the-best-upcoming-city-builders/I'm also doing the final testing for the Teleport Platform so that should be in today's build. And as always, thank you again everyone for your support, feedback and encouragement!. New Tree Progress: Wanted to give a quick update as I work on changing out the trees. I have all of the new main trees loadable by the new tree system. This includes the two large trees, the medium tree, and the small birch tree. There are also two different colors for the tree bark in addition to the birch. The new rocks are in too! This screenshot is what the highest setting will look like for trees and rocks. The new flowers and bushes aren't in yet. You'll note that there are more colors for the leaves, with some variety in the greens, oranges, and reds.So far on my Dev PC, compared to the current trees, I'm seeing better performance even when I use the highest tree setting with all of the tree variants and colors. So that's very promising!Left to do:Hook up all of the trees to the simple falling down version so they can be chopped down. Birch trees cannot be chopped down.Update the new rocks so they can be harvested for quality stone.Add the new flowers and bushes and hook them up to the quality settings.Create the new falling down versions of all trees based on the gif below.Add a couple more quality settings for the trees and rocks.Create the falling leaves system.Move the trees around to fit better. Right now the new trees are loading in the old trees' locations, but since these have different shapes, they overlap a lot more.Add the new Weeping Willow, Cherry Blossoms, and Pine Trees once they are completed by the artist.A pretty big task list, but I'm feeling good about the progress and love how they look. Brightens up the whole game! This is the new falling down of the trees. I have to build one for each version of each tree that can be chopped down.My goal is to have the parts of the tree's trunk that remain behind be the parts that you pick up rather than just spawning new logs. The trees are pretty big though so we'll see how it looks once I set it up in the actual game world.. Roadmap to Full Release Progress Update: Time for another Development Update on the Road to Full Release. You can read the original Roadmap Announcement here:https://steamcommunity.com/games/664000/announcements/detail/1710706508279875941Below is a list of the goals and the progress that has been made on them so far.Note when something says "Done" that doesn't mean I'll never add more to it, it simply means I'm happy with where it is for now and moving on to other things. After leaving early access I will very likely come back to many of these to add more to them or make changes to improve them. Also, changing the format of this to hopefully make it easier to read.IN PROGRESS. New Environment Fly-Through: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAXJyWYgclc&feature=youtu.beI created a video of the visual target for HammerHelm's new environment. Aside from the new art I also wanted to experiment with more open spaces. Right now the forest is very dense. I like the idea of having some open space with maybe a couple of clusters of density. Probably spent more time on this than I should have, but I'm happy with the result. Still experimenting with lighting and some of the textures. I'm going to use this as a template as the visual quality bar when I add all of the new art to the world map.So now it's back to more content and features. Really don't like going a week without a game update. Just feels weird.
